A World Connected tells us that their purpose is to take up the "globalization debate" and to sort out what the costs and benefits of globalization really are. They claim to cut "across ideologies and the traditional left/right political divide"; however this claim is certainly open to debate. If A World Connected takes a pronounced pro-global-capitalism perspective, it does so in an explicit engagement with the perspectives, issues, and terminology of those not necessarily so convinced that global capitalism is the source of human freedom. All in all, this site, developed by the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University, is an engaging website with a variety of resources. Of particular interest might be "Stories and People," an interesting set of text and video reports.

The Bologna Process from the Council of Europe website is an essential starting point for those of us interested in European higher education. We may have all heard of the Bologna Process, whose "ultimate aim" is to "establish a European Higher Education Area by 2010 in which staff and students can move with ease and have fair recognition of their qualifications."  But there is much, much more here.  A huge accretion of documents, discussions, and developments related to the Bologna Process combine to make this "one-stop shopping" for this sweeping transformation of European education.
